Appropriate.

Sounds to me like he’s watched Lost.

He’d be so amused by the bullshit on tumblr.

James Randi debunks an Astrologer with the help of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.

Watch an astrologer get intellectually bitch-slapped by Stephen Fry.

This is pretty funny, the beginning is hard to hear though.

Stephen Fry - ‘God is Everywhere’ A Realists/Humanist Point of View.

Atheism comes into rather a bad press and I suppose I’d rather describe myself as a humanist. I don’t believe there is a God. If I were to believe in a god l would believe in gods. I think monotheism is the really ghastly thing. That is the absolutely staggering, to me, misapprehension. I can perfectly see why anybody might imagine that each thing, each thing that grows, each phenomenon that accompanies us on our journey through life, the sky, the mountains… I can imagine why man would wish to endow them with an inner something, an inner animus that they would call the god of that thing. I can see that. It’s a beautiful and charming way of looking at it and I can understand the Greek idea that there are these principles of lightening or of war or of wisdom and to embody them, to personify them into a Athena or Aries or whichever god you want makes enormous sense, but to say that there is one only god who made it all…What? Why? Who said?

When someone says debating religion is pointless because they’ll never change their minds…

Here are the first five videos in the debate.

and, here is the thread about it on reddit.

An amazing debate, I loved it so much. The looks on Hitchens’ and Fry’s faces once they saw how many people they swayed. I was so happy to see that open-minded people still exist in this world.

nemelle:

Enormous respect and admiration for Stephen Fry who payed this tribute to Christopher Hitchens when he was still here and could see it. The second unforgettable moment with them two - the Catholic Church debate was the first. RIP The Hitch.

I haven’t even watched this yet, but I’m reblogging it simply because of what it is. I’ll be watching it when I wake up.

LMAO, this debate is amazing. Watching Fry and Hitchens destroy their opposition is always entertaining, but this one was particularly insulting and I loved every minute of it. I’ll post the link for those of you who would like to see:

There are 5 parts, enjoy!

We figured out the atom without help from the bible, I’m pretty sure we figured out civics and morality. Through much trial and error of course. Doesn’t it seem that there is a correlation between the rise in civility and the decline of god in government?

I said it before and I’ll say it again, I love Stephen Fry.

I started watching the intelligence squared debate on the catholic church to see Mr Fry. But i’m so into it.
I’m sitting here nodding with everything Hitchens has to say. I doubt anyone could win against Fry and Hitchens.

He really is one of the most inspirational people I can think of. I wish to be half as smart as he is someday. I don’t know what I want to do with my life, but I would like very much to be at least something like him.

Stephen Fry <3
