And this is why I can’t understand why anyone would be conservative.

I couldn’t agree more.

An excellent article that details the main reasons that many young adults are liberals. However, while I agree with all the points, I can’t help but disagree with the assertion that “all” young adults are liberal; I know plenty of conservatives who are my age and younger. Granted most of them are this way due to simple ignorance on the issues, influence of their ignorant parents/elders, or they are just blinded by fear and racism. Either way, when I see young people supporting conservative ideals, it puts a sour taste in my mouth and I worry about the future of this nation.
And for some reason “liberal” is a dirty word?
While the poster is indeed correct, the problem with the entire system is that a lot of conservatives (or “independents” aka: the word that republicans use to make themselves seem like they’re centrists) hijack a lot of these issues. I know a guy who single-handedly attempted to explain how a lot of these movements and laws were the work of conservatives… granted, this guy is a fucking moron, but he’s still a huge part of the problem and an example of how easily manipulated small-minded people are. Every word of this poster rings true, but the conservative agenda is all about manipulating history and altering truth; they take something like child labor laws and then make up a story about how it was the work of conservatives. But for other issues, such as school lunch programs, they label them as “liberal” with a negative connotation by throwing the term “socialism” around, as if any of the GOP candidates could even define it.
A world without liberals would be a dark, frightening, and theocratic world. All I can do is hope that the next democrat to run for the presidency is an actual democrat.

If that’s really the Webster’s International Dictionary definition, I will be quite happy. lol
