Since When do Republicans Get to Complain About Lying?
It’s ugly. It’s dishonest. It’s quintessentially Republican. So why do conservatives hate it? Because they’re on the receiving end of their own brand of politics for a change.Las Vegas Review-Journal:
Sen. Harry Reid caused a stir this week when he told an interviewer that Mitt Romney hasn’t released more of his tax returns because “he didn’t pay taxes for 10 years.” On Wednesday, Reid doubled down on the charge.
In an interview published Tuesday, Reid said an investor in Bain Capital, the former private equity firm of the Republican presidential candidate, told him in a phone call that Romney had paid zero taxes.
“Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain,” Reid told the Huffington Post, declining to identify his source. “But obviously he can’t release those tax returns. How would it look?”
Whether this is true or not is a matter for debate and the pedigree of the claim (“this one guy told me this one thing this one time”) strongly suggests it’s not all that true. This all has the strong scent of horsecrap (and not Olympic horse dancer Rafalca’s horsecrap, which I’m assured smells like roses) — which means it also smells a lot like a Republican talking point.
Mitt Romney is, after all, the candidate whose entire campaign consists of a list of lies much, much longer than your arm. One of Mitt’s most recent lies was also one of his most shameful; that the Aurora theater shooter broke the law to get his weapons. He didn’t. Romney was covering for the gun industry by lying about a mass murder — and in doing so, arguably increasing the likelihood of future massacres. This is a conscienceless man.
Nevertheless, National Review’s Jim Geraghty asks — nay, demands! — that independent fact-checkers look into Reid’s claim, but there’s the question of how. No one at Annenberg or PolitiFact has access to Mitt Romney’s tax records, so they’re pretty much helpless here. The only way to prove Reid wrong is to take a look at those tax records Mitt Romney refuses to release.
What gets me about this is that Republican media feels they have the right to complain about it. I know, this is the party with several decks of victim cards forever at the ready, but still… You’d think there was some limit to the amount of hypocrisy they’d allow themselves. And after the birtherism, the accusations of Marxism and Nazism, the “secret Muslim terrorist sleeper agent” conspiracy theorizing — in short, the entire rightwing anti-Obama messaging industry — you’d think they’d be a little more prepared to defend themselves from the same post-truth politics they’ve unleashed on the nation. Were they foolish enough to introduce their poison into the American political system without first developing an antidote?
That would seem to be the case.
None of this is to say that Reid is justified in doing this — although I have to admit to enjoying the “just desserts” aspect of the whole thing. But I am saying that Republicans have no right to complain about it. None at all. When you’ve decided the truth is irrelevant to winning, you don’t get to complain that your opponent is being dishonest. In other words, don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.
And quit whining about being hoist by your own petard.

How people having much better access to THIS:
Is TOTALLY the same as THIS:
Or THIS:
This shit is why the GOP can’t have nice things. Comparisons like this are why no one takes any conservatives seriously. Stop being a goddamn caricature and learn some fucking rationality. Being able…
You can’t put the words “conservatives” and “rationality” in the same sentence.
American conservatives have become a fucking disease thanks to false news programs and things like conservative talk radio. They share all of their “ideas,” which are all either pure misinformation or just racist/homophobic ridden opinions. It’s become a scary thing too… like it’s not just another point of view… they believe that Fox News is bringing them the only possible truth out there.
There is no room for grey areas with conservatives in this country; everything is black and white, good and evil, and you’re either with America or against America. They believe that having any opinion that doesn’t fit their rigid uniform-like agenda is thoroughly anti-American.
So if you support a woman’s right to be able to choose what happens in her life, you’re not fit to be a proper American. If you maybe feel like unregulated capitalism isn’t working so well these days, you should probably move to Russia. If you’re anti-war, you’re a dirty hippie. If you’re black then you’re looked at as a criminal no matter what. If you’re a Muslim then fuck, you’re insulting these assholes just by being here. If you’re Hispanic then you probably came to this country illegally and should be forced back into your old country. If you’re a little skeptical about how easy it is for psychos to buy guns, THEN FUCK YOU! SECOND AMENDMENT SOLUTIONS MOTHERFUCKER! If you’re an atheist then you deserve to fucking die and god should let the devil torture you for eternity. If you’re a homosexual, similar situation to atheists and Muslims. And if you’re just a liberal in general, then you’re a lazy freeloader and you should probably learn how to be a real American…
It’s honestly just a lot of radical hate. It’s hatred piled atop hatred, all born of either simple misinformation or old feelings of bigotry born of upbringing or dogmatic beliefs about which god is the best god.
The mentality of “you’re with us or you’re against us” never ends well. I wish someone would remind the conservatives of that little historical fact.

No justice, no peace.
The very idea that someone can see these things happen and then still deny that there is indeed a war on women, means that they are one of two things:

No, both sides are not equally to blame — GOP most partisan in a century.
Keith Poole of the University of Georgia, with his collaborator Howard Rosenthal of New York University, has spent decades charting the ideological shifts and polarization of the political parties in Congress from the 18th century until now to get the view of how the political landscape has changed from 30,000 feet up. What they have found is that the Republican Party is the most conservative it has been a century. This graph shows the ideological movement for both parties in the House. Note the steady shift towards conservatism among Republicans.
In a recent conversation Poole, who’s viewed by other political scientists as the go-to expert on this issue, explained that the data are very clear:
“This is an entirely objective statistical procedure. The graphs just reflect what comes out of the computer. Howard Rosenthal and I, we’ve been working on something called Nominate. This does all the Congresses simultaneously, which allows you to study change over time.
“The short version would be since the late 1970s starting with the 1976 election in the House the Republican caucus has steadily moved to the right ever since. It’s been a little more uneven in the Senate. The Senate caucuses have also moved to the right. Republicans are now furtherest to the right that they’ve been in 100 years.
I’d disagree with the use of the word “conservative” — the word means “cautious” and the current House GOP are reckless and reactionary. “Radical” is the word I’d go with.
In any case, what you always suspected is true; the media’s false equivalency of “both sides are just as bad” is complete bullshit. Once again, reality has a liberal bias.
I hate when people say “both sides are to blame.”
After everything that’s happened in the last 10 (roughly) years, how can anyone blame both sides? To name just a few little gems of the right wing:
This is why I truly cannot have conservative friends anymore; they have this idea that my ideas and views are just as cruel and out-of-touch as their own, and that’s simply not true. The only conservative friend I have left in my life recently expressed his unhappiness to a mutual friend about the fact that I refuse to talk about politics with him. He doesn’t understand that it has nothing to do with me not wanting to discuss things with him, it’s the simple fact that I will grow to HATE him if I hear his ignorant, racist, conservative, misogynistic opinions. I simply cannot allow those kinds of people to be in my life anymore.

Is there really a war on women?
Republicans say no. They say the phrase is a bunch of hyperbole. But their actions say otherwise. After what was already a record number of reproductive health related restrictions introduced in 2011, conservatives have ratched up the rhetoric and legislation aimed squarely at women.

Hyperbole my ass.
“Once you leave the womb, conservatives don’t care about you until you reach military age. Then you’re just what they’re looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers.” ~ George Carlin
(via sanityscraps)
Whenever a Republican tries to claim they aren’t racist, let’s remember this Trayvon Martin incident.
You see, Republicans could have easily taken the stand of defending the Stand Your Ground laws. They could have said they welcomed an investigation and believed that the investigation would show the truth.
But they didn’t do that. Instead, the went after the victim and portrayed him as someone who probably had it coming.
This is all we need to know about Republicans and how they approach matters of race. When given an opportunity, they didn’t hesitate for a second to smear a dead kid.

Ok, its 9 minutes, but its 9 minutes of PURE GOLD. Just open in another window and listen. Long live the king….or reign is maybe more appropriate, fuck it listen.
It’s George Carlin….shut the fuck up and love it.
Given the Republican War On Women, this is more relevant now than it was while Carlin was still alive. Obviously, we still need his help.
Conservatives are anti-woman; that’s always been their position.

Limbaugh’s slut-shaming could cripple right wing talk radio.
John Avlon, The Daily Beast:
Rush Limbaugh made the right-wing talk-radio industry, and he just might break it.
Because now the fallout from the “slut” slurs against Sandra Fluke is extending to the entire political shock-jock genre.
Premiere Networks, which distributes Limbaugh as well as a host of other right-wing talkers, sent an email out to its affiliates early Friday listing 98 large corporations that have requested their ads appear only on “programs free of content that you know are deemed to be offensive or controversial (for example, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity).”This is big. According to the radio-industry website Radio-Info.com, which first posted excerpts of the Premiere memo, among the 98 companies that have decided to no longer sponsor these programs are “carmakers (Ford, GM, Toyota), insurance companies (Allstate, Geico, Prudential, State Farm), and restaurants (McDonald’s, Subway).” Together, these talk-radio advertising staples represent millions of dollars in revenue.“I have talked with several reps who report that they’re having conversations with their clients, who are asking not to be associated with specifically polarizing controversial hosts, particularly if those hosts are ‘mean-spirited,’” says author and industry expert Valerie Geller. “While most products and services offered on these shows have strong competitors, and enjoy purchasing the exposure that many of these shows and hosts can offer, they do not wish to be ‘tarred’ with the brush of anger, or endure customer anger, or, worse, product boycotts.”
Limbaugh’s a child. When he started to get pushback over his initial rant, he went on a three-day bender to prove that no one could push him around. In his hubris, he may have damaged his entire industry.
Dunno how I feel about this…
On one hand, I fucking hate Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, and all of these other scumbags. “Conservative talk radio” is probably one of the most vile fucking ways that misinformation and blind hatred are spewed…
BUT, I do believe in freedom of speech. And no matter how vile these assholes are, I do believe they have to right to say what they want… but then again, you can’t blame sponsors for backing out. Business is business, afterall.
And I won’t lie, part of me is smiling at the fact that conservative talk radio is taking a hit. I hate them all so much. lol

I have an issue taking a person seriously once they reveal that they’re a conservative/republican. It’s kind of like finding out that a person practices alchemy even though they know about and fully understand chemistry.

While Rush Limbaugh has offered his fake apology to Sandra Fluke for calling her a slut and a whore, it’s important to recall each of the 52 times last week when Rush insulted Fluke. So I’ve compiled a comprehensive list, each of them linked to Limbaugh’s own transcript of what he said. Does one half-hearted apology make up for 52 smears?

17) “Have you ever heard of not having sex so often?”
18) “Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I’ll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.”
19) “we want something in return, Ms. Fluke: And that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we are getting for our money.”

46) “By her own admission, in her own words, Sandra Fluke is having so much sex that she can’t afford it.”
47) “they’re having a lot of sex for which they need a lot of contraception.”
48) “Her sex life is active and she’s having sex so frequently that she can’t afford all the birth control pills that she needs.”
49) “who admits to having so much sex that she can’t afford it anymore.”
50) “she’s having so much sex, she can’t pay for it.”
51) “As frequently as she has sex and to not be pregnant, she’s obviously succeeding in contraception.”
52) “Ms. Fluke, asserts her right to free contraceptive, to handle her sex life — and it’s, by her own admission, quite active.”
All the shit he said is deplorable. I hope all of his sponsors tell him to fuck off.

Much of Sean Hannity’s Friday show was devoted to complaining that the left-wing is loaded with haters who do things right-wingers would never, ever do, like organize boycotts to do harm to those who say right-wing things. He was, of course, continuing the ongoing smear campaign against Media Matters, who must just be driving them all crazy over at Fox News now that there’s a book out exposing their strategies.
But really, Sean Hannity should try the Google before he lays down challenges like this one. While I’m unimpressed with “Democratic strategist” Julie Roginsky’s response, it’s his challenge I really want to look at more carefully. After asking why it is the left “always goes after conservatives” without going after their own, Roginsky tosses off a rather careless response, saying, “that’s the left. The right does the same thing.”
And that begins the Sean Hannity pissing contest challenge.
HANNITY: Have they [Newsbusters] ever gone after people and started boycott campaigns?
ROGINSKY: I have no idea what Newsbusters does —
HANNITY: But Media Matters has, haven’t they?
Some back and forth about first amendment rights, etc, and then the Hannity Challenge:
HANNITY: But here’s the difference. I don’t know any conservative, and you can’t name one, that’s hiring private investigators, that’s organizing with the White House and collaborating with them, and attempting to get advertisers to pull out of shows in an attempt to silence voices. Can you name a conservative equivalent?
ROGINSKY: I don’t follow conservative media, so I don’t, but I can say this —
HANNITY: I can tell you, I can’t name one, and I know conservative media.
Let’s leave aside Hannity’s lies about collaboration with the White House, which is just nonsense. He cannot seem to name one conservative organization that organizes boycotts? Really?
Let me take that challenge, because Sean Hannity doesn’t seem to know conservative media or conservative infrastructure as well as he thinks he does.
- One Million Moms first threatened a boycott of JC Penney’s to force them to remove Ellen DeGeneres as their new spokeswoman. Their more recent effort is against Toys ‘R Us for selling a newly-published Archie comic featuring a gay wedding. Their purpose, as stated on their website: “OMM is strictly an online campaign focusing primarily on the entertainment media (television, music, movies, etc.). The goal of this campaign is to stop the exploitation of children by such media.” One Million Moms is a project of the Family Research Council, featured often on Fox News. Current boycott projects include Lifetime Television, ABC and Disney, and Clorox bleach.
- In 2009, Rush Limbaugh called on his listeners to boycott GM, saying “nobody wants to support an Obama company.” Rasmussen Reports immediately followed up with a poll to see how many would support such a boycott.
- Last month the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute called for a boycott of Girl Scout cookies because they support Planned Parenthood.
- Newsbusters, the conservative activist wing of the Media Research Center, criticized networks for playing up a boycott of Lowe’s Corporation. The reason for the boycott? Lowe’s had advertising placements on TLC’s “All-American Muslim”, and that outraged right-wing critics. Lowe’s bowed to the pressure from enraged right-wingers and pulled the ads. Newsbusters chided networks for “playing up Lowe’s outrage.”
- American Family Association calls for a boycott of Old Navy for supporting the “It Gets Better” project.
- USA Christian Ministries calls for Starbucks boycott over tolerance for gay rights and anti-gun stance.
- Liberty Counsel calls for a boycott of PayPal after four accounts of anti-gay activists were suspended.
- Mike Huckabee, on Fox News, called for a boycott of NPR after Juan Williams was fired.
Should I go on, or do you think I’ve proven Hannity to be the whiny little liar we knew he was?
To view the whole interview click here: http://gocl.me/xnYQVd
How the fuck could he ignore those boycotts? Most of them were featured on Fox News at some point or another. There was even a huge debate between O’Reilly and one of those Million Mom cunts, where O’Reilly was actually DEFENDING Ellen DeGeneres.
Hannity is one of those people you look at and say “Aww, you really believe that bullshit, don’t you honey?” What a fucking idiot.
