Hahahaha
Died laughing when I read this.
Then immediately after seeing this, my friend tells me a story about the exact opposite… his friend sat him down privately and he was convinced that he was going to tell him that he was gay, but no. Apparently he wants to become a priest.
I would’ve preferred he had been gay. I don’t even know the guy. lol

Ireland’s Justice Minister Alan Shatter is planning to introduce legislation later this year that would put people in jail for 10 years if they withheld information that would help prosecute a child abuser.
Conformity to religious dogma is more important than protecting children and exposing sexual predators in the Catholic Church.
Outstanding.
This is unsurprising.
I enjoy Tim Minchin.

and be beaten or starve to death
We’ve gotten to the point where legislation and rulings that should be common sense are now being framed as victories. Yippee.
Seriously. I almost find it difficult to even be happy about these victories anymore. These shouldn’t even be controversial issues. Fuck the catholic church and everything it stands for. I grow so tired of the constant bullshit every fucking day.

Silly Jesus, is he only talking about the 4 Gospels in the bible as we know it? If those 4 versions with conflicting accounts were all we had to deal with, this would be less laughable. But as many of you know there have been Gospels found that were contemporaries of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Not to mention those that were ruthlessly eliminated and destroyed by the Church. ~ Kim
Annnnnnd, Kim for the win =]
Quite silly if you ask me, too. And this kind of explains maybe what it does, but not exactly what it is. It sounds like being baptised causes one to be possessed by some kind of god-demon that causes you to spout incoherent bullshit and perform all kinds of ritualistic sit-down, stand-up dances during Catholic church services.
And what does it mean to blaspheme against the holy spirit? If I say of Rick Santorum, for example, that his holy spirit, if he has one, must be seriously fucked up, is that a blaspheme?
~ Steve
This made me laugh. lol

I know I’m gonna get shit for it from my family when the time comes, but I’m not getting my kids baptized. I don’t see the purpose. I don’t believe, and I doubt very much that I’m going to fall madly in love with a very religious girl, so it really shouldn’t be an issue. However, I always wonder about what my family will actually think/say. Furthermore, I really wonder what my hypothetical in-laws would think/say.
Read this article.
Read it and then fucking tell me that Christianity is a “force for good.”
When someone says debating religion is pointless because they’ll never change their minds…
Here are the first five videos in the debate.
and, here is the thread about it on reddit.
An amazing debate, I loved it so much. The looks on Hitchens’ and Fry’s faces once they saw how many people they swayed. I was so happy to see that open-minded people still exist in this world.
I’ll just forewarn you that my vocabulary will not be the cleanest in this post. It is no secret that any form of abuse, but especially abuse done to children are huge anger triggers for me. Not wanting to be accused of making this shit up, or not being able to find it when and if they take it down, I’ve added a screen shots. The actual page is here. The first shot is of their Catholic League’s homepage. The second is what comes up when you click the read more link. The texts reads:
BOSTON VICTIMS’ SUMMIT BOMBS
Over the weekend, lawyers, columnists, reporters, psychiatrists, and activists attended the “10th Anniversary Celebration & Conference” in Boston; it marked the 10th anniversary of media reports on the Boston clergy sexual abuse scandal.
Commenting on the outcome is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:
A whopping 75 people turned out for the conference, 25 of whom were the speakers. How embarrassing. It’s clear that the professional victims’ lobby is spent. Everyone else has moved on, but those who have an ideological, emotional or financial interest in continuing this saga cannot let go. What a pitiful bunch of malcontents.
This a good sign. Catholics are talking about the announcement that Archbishop Timothy Dolan and Archbishop Edwin O’Brien will become Cardinal Dolan and Cardinal O’Brien next month—they’re not interested in wallowing in negativity.
It’s a well known fact that I despise Bill Donohue, but even for him this is incredibly fucking low. To rejoice in the fact that the turn out to a victim’s conference was “embarrassing” and call those involved a “pitiful bunch” is something I didn’t even expect from him. The image of a crying baby, and the blatant no cry babies meaning of the pictures accompanying this article has moved me to anger. This is continued victimization of every single person who has been sexually assaulted by a member of the Catholic Church. Anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse period. This is demoralizing intellectually and psychologically. This is what it looks like when the biggest Church in the world takes a stand on who they think is really at fault for their image problems. Of course I’m going to hear that my statements are big generalizations, but if and when the Pope speaks out against this, I may consider apologizing. Until then, as far as I see it, the entire Church supports this shit.
Let’s examine the reason for this conference needing to be held at all shall we. Adult men, representing the Catholic Church in a role of authority, used that power and trust to commit sexual crimes against others, mostly minors. The failure of victims and their family to PUBLICLY show up to this conference should not need to be explained. Why would people want to continue the subject themselves to the very institution that was the source of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse? Bill Donohue is a fucking reprehensible piece of shit. Everyone who has been sexually abused has an “emotional” interest in seeing that Priests stop molesting children, and that those who did receive just punishment. However, not everyone wants to stand up in front of assholes like Donohue, and have to explain to him why it’s not ok to simply re-assign, or never talk about the people that carried out the abuse. Fully realizing that people like him will continue to blame the victim for the shame brought upon the Catholic Church, people are trying their best to move on with their lives and not live as victims.
So while Donohue is showing his hate filled ass by proudly pointing out that Catholics have moved on to happier things, victims of the Church are trying to do the same. No they are not “wallowing in negativity.” They have wisely chosen to stay away from assholes like you and the negativity you spew. Un-FUCKING-believable. This was an angry blog, not editing so apologizing for typos in advance.~ Kim
What. the. fuck. I have no words right now.
;)
Yes. Yes it is. It absolutely is. And if you claim not to do it, then you are a liar. You are then committing TWO “sins” and you’re going to “hell” anyway. So go jerk off and shut the fuck up because you’re full of shit no matter what deity you declare allegiance to.
