I AGREE!  It’s all about the SCOTUS.

Agreed, and that’s why it’s important to vote democrat even if the democratic party is weak-willed. Voting republican will get us conservative Supreme Court Justices, and having conservative Supreme Court Justices means moving backward and losing ground on civil liberties. In short, vote democrat.

“I will pick up that label and wear it as a Badge of Honor.”

~ [Jimmy Smits as] Matt Santos, The West Wing

I am proud to be a liberal!!!

partial text:

Santos: It’s true, Republicans have tried to turn ‘liberal’ into a bad word. Well, liberals ended slavery in this country.
Vinick: A Republican president ended slavery.
Santos: Yes, a liberal Republican. What happened to them? They got run out of your party. What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican party? I’ll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created social security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They opposed every one of those programs. Every one. So when you try to hurl the word ‘liberal’ at my feet, as if it were dirty, something to run away from, something that I should be ashamed of, it won’t work, Senator, because I will pick up that label and wear it as a badge of honor.

I loved this episode :3 I wish they had The West Wing on Netflix :/

I’ve never seen this show, but I’d love to hear a democratic candidate say these things.

The right wing Family Research Council (a.k.a. the sex police) gave an award to Congressman Joe Walsh for his “unwavering support of the family.” Of course, this makes no mention of his no support for the Walsh family. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell explains in the Rewrite. (via The Last Word)

I fucking love Lawrence O’Donnell. I’ll agree that a lot of the MSNBC and CNN anchors are kinda bland and they half-ass a lot of the stories, but O’Donnell is excellent. And seriously, fuck the Family Research Council. Fuck all of this bullshit with conservative “values” and “morality.” They make me fucking sick.
